A Year of Growth and Opportunity

Video message from CEO David Joyner.

As I reflect on 2024, I am approaching the month of April, my 12th anniversary at Hill Physicians Medical Group, and my 10th anniversary as CEO.  I feel very fortunate. It is a great privilege to work with a fantastic management team, Board of Directors, and our physician network.

Health care is constantly changing, and in the 40 years since the founding of Hill Physicians and PriMed Management Consulting Services, we have witnessed dramatic shifts in our industry. The pace of change has accelerated in the past decade, driven by powerful forces: technology, the COVID-19 pandemic and severe cost pressures on employers, plans, hospitals and physicians. In such a rapidly changing environment, you must constantly adapt to meet the many challenges, and you can’t afford to stand still. At Hill Physicians and PriMed, we have made several strategic decisions over the past decade that have enabled us to navigate this shifting landscape. In 2024, these choices helped us achieve record-high revenues, membership, network size, and geographic scope.

At Hill Physicians and PriMed, we have made several strategic decisions over the past decade that have enabled us to navigate this shifting landscape.

Our decision to adopt Epic as a platform for Claims, Customer Service, Authorizations, Care Management, Population Health and the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) across many of our practices has allowed us to operate effectively with industry-leading technology.

Our decision to launch our Clinically Integrated Network has pushed us to find more ways to operate as a truly integrated network, improving collaboration and patient care.

Acquiring a Restricted Knox Keene license and taking full risk for MediCare Advantage (MA) has fueled our growth and expanded our MA membership.

The pandemic acted as a catalyst to accelerate the adoption of technology. Video visits have become an established part of many practice options for physicians, providing patients with more flexible care options.

The impact of the pandemic on independent practices spurred us to invest more heavily in recruiting and supporting physicians and advanced practice providers. In the past decade, we have expanded into San Mateo, Marin, Nevada, Sonoma and Stanislaus counties, increasing our scale and relevance in the market.

Finally, we remain committed to delivering on the Triple Aim: Affordability, quality and patient experience. Our success in these areas is a testament to the hard work of our physicians, the strategic guidance of our Board of Directors and the dedication of our PriMed Team.

In 2025, it is clear that we will continue to face significant changes, particularly related to government policy and legislation. While these challenges may present tough decisions, I am confident that our culture, high-quality team, and strategic plan will position us to successfully navigate the years ahead.
